Part two of a documentary web series focusing on Swedish occult rockers GHOST can be seen below (courtesy of Vice's Noisey.com). Director Greg Olliver, who co-directed and produced 2010's "Lemmy" film and the psychological thriller/horror film "Devoured", directed the video for GHOST.

Filming for the series and planned feature-length documentary began on last year's summer festival circuit and continued through the end of 2013.

The first episode features live performance, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from GHOST's tour in Sweden, Germany and Belgium.

The project is being produced through Olliver's New York City-based production company Secret Weapon Films.

"Greg has the perfect mix of story-telling acumen, musical taste and a fondness for the macabre... it made him the ideal choice to tell the story of GHOST," said Adam Farrell, creative director of the band's label, Loma Vista.

"You can't point a camera at GHOST without every frame of footage looking like heavy-metal gold," said Olliver.

"I was thrilled to hear that they wanted to work with me.

"Making films with legends like Lemmy and Johnny Winter, who have well-known stories, is one thing, but to work with a band that's on a fast rise to fame and has a mysterious story which is currently unraveling requires an entirely different approach. Add in the anonymity of the group and the look that they have... and you suddenly have a whole lot to chew on as a director. The only downside is that I felt a bit silly on stage filming while NOT wearing a robe and black mask."

GHOST's sophomore album, "Infestissumam", sold around 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 28 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The CD topped the official chart in the group's home country after selling nearly five times as many copies as the No. 2 album, MISS LI's "Wolves".

Swedish occult rockers GHOST, who toured Australia recently with the Big Day Out, dropped by the Music Feeds studio in full clergymen attire to perform "Ritual", a cut from their debut full-length album, 2010's "Opus Eponymous"; "Year Zero", a song from their second full-length album, 2013's "Infestissumam"; and a cover of Roky Erickson's classic track "If You Have Ghosts". The latter song's progressive-rock undertones are emphasized by the strong vocals of GHOST frontman Papa Emeritus II, who dressed down slightly for the occasion. Check out the footage below.

GHOST's covers EP, "If You Have Ghost", sold around 5,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 87 on The Billboard 200 chart. Issued on November 19, 2013 via Loma Vista Recordings, the five-track EP was recorded and produced by Dave Grohl (FOO FIGHTERS, NIRVANA), and includes cover versions of songs by ROKY ERICKSON, ABBA, ARMY OF LOVERS and DEPECHE MODE, plus a live version of the GHOST offering "Secular Haze", recorded in Brooklyn earlier this year.

Outside North America (with the exception of Scandinavia), Spinefarm Records is the new releasing partner for Loma Vista on all GHOST recordings, including the new EP and previous album. Spinefarm releases are distributed through Caroline/Universal in all territories, including the U.K., where the EP was made available on November 18, 2013.

"If You Have Ghost" is available on CD, 12-inch vinyl and digitally. Those who pre-ordered the EP received an instant free download of "Secular Haze - Live".

The clip was directed by Rob Semmer and was shot on location at the El Rey in Los Angeles and Webster Hall in New York City. The song comes of GHOST's sophomore album, "Infestissumam", which sold around 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 28 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The CD topped the official chart in the group's home country after selling nearly five times as many copies as the No. 2 album, MISS LI's "Wolves".

The release date of "Infestissumam" was reportedly pushed back a week to April 16 after four compact disc manufacturers allegedly refused to print a piece of artwork that was meant for the deluxe version of the new CD. The manufacturers all took issue with the sacrilegious imagery, inspired by the work of Gustave Dore, which showcases what looks like a forest nymph orgy. The manufacturers all took issue with the sacrilegious imagery, inspired by the work of Gustave Dore, which showcases what looks like a forest nymph orgy.

"We kept on getting turned down because of the CD art, which is basically a 16th century illustration of an orgy," a source close to the band told SPIN.com. "[The bandmembers] weren't surprised. The comment was 'Well, I thought this would have happened sooner.' The artwork was meant to provoke some sort of thought, but it's been one obstacle after another."

The controversial art can still be found on both the vinyl and European copies of the "Infestissuman" CD. "Vinyl manufacturers don't have a problem with the artwork. Neither does Europe," the source told SPIN.com.

Se no ano passado os mascarados do Slipknot surpreenderam com um show fora dos padrões no Rock in Rio, uma outra banda, que também traz integrantes encapuzados e não identificados, tem tudo para causar efeito parecido na próxima edição do festival: são os suecos do Ghost, sombrio sexteto formado por músicos autodenominados "Nameless Ghouls" (ou "bestas sem nome", em português), liderados pelo satânico Papa Emeritus.

Influenciados pela grandiloquência dramática de artistas como David Bowie e Alice Cooper, o grupo recorre a um visual assustador, digno das grandes produções cinematográficas de terror, para dar seu recado.

"Qualquer ideia fora dos padrões, sobrenatural, é o que realmente inspira a banda. Muito dessa coisa sombria e religiosa contida nos elementos mais ásperos da música vem do death metal e do doom metal. Mas, basicamente, o som do Ghost vem da combinação de classic rock com metal alternativo", diz o guitarrista da banda ao G1, depois de um início de entrevista um tanto incomum: como se referir a alguém que não usa nomes?

A discografia do Ghost é breve: lançaram apenas uma demo, um EP e o álbum "Opus Eponymous", de 2010, que, no Japão, saiu com uma versão inusitada para "Here comes the sun", dos Beatles. Mas um novo álbum já está a caminho, com previsão de chegar ao mercado em 2013.

A escolha incomum da ensolarada canção de George Harrison para um cover e o show que o grupo planeja para o Rock in Rio — a banda se apresenta no dia 19 de setembro, ao lado do Metallica, Alice in Chains, Sepultura e Tambores du Bronx — foram alguns dos assuntos abordados por uma das "bestas sem nome" na entrevista abaixo.

G1 — Há algum nome pelo qual posso chamá-lo?

"Nameless Ghoul" — Não (risos).

G1 — Pode, ao menos, dizer se você é o baterista, um dos guitarristas ou o vocalista da banda?

"Nameless Ghoul" — Sou um dos guitarristas (risos).

G1 — Como surgiu o Ghost?

"Nameless Ghoul" — Basicamente da mesma maneira como todas as bandas são formadas. A única diferença é que viemos de uma cidade na Suécia (risos).

G1 — Que tipo de artistas inspiraram a banda?

"Nameless Ghoul" — Artistas performáticos, como Alice Cooper, Kiss e David Bowie. São os mais teatrais do planeta, eu acho. Se bem que também considero bastante teatral o que o que os Rolling Stones fizeram numa determinada época. Qualquer ideia fora dos padrões, sobrenatural, é o que realmente inspira a banda. Muito dessa coisa sombria e religiosa contida nos elementos mais ásperos da música vem do death metal e do doom metal. Mas, basicamente, o som do Ghost vem da combinação de classic rock com metal alternativo. Por classic rock entenda tudo o que compõe a seção "rock" das lojas de discos: de Beatles a Sisters of Mercy. Falando de bandas brasileiras, gostamos muito do Sarcófago, Holocausto, Sepultura, MX e coisas assim.

G1 — De onde veio a ideia de gravar uma versão de "Here comes the sun", dos Beatles?  Parece algo bem diferente da proposta da banda...

"Nameless Ghoul" — Essa música, em sua versão original, traz uma mensagem de esperança muito forte, algo acalentador sobre a chegada da primavera e os dias melhores que ela pode proporcionar. É uma canção alegre em muitos sentidos. Então fica fácil inverter isso. Basicamente transpusemos a canção para acordes menores, o que a transforma numa canção bem mais sombria, mesmo mantendo a letra original. É divertido fazer covers de bandas que não seriam exatamente as primeiras opções para uma banda de metal (o grupo costuma tocar ao vivo uma versão de “I’m a marionette", do ABBA). Mas a temática dessas músicas, muitas vezes religiosa, se encaixa muito bem com o que fazemos.

G1 — Vivemos na era das celebridades, onde a notoriedade se transformou no maior objetivo. Vocês vão de encontro à essa ideia...

"Nameless Ghoul" — Acreditamos que os sentimentos que queremos despertar nas pessoas, durante nossos shows, devem ter relação direta com a maneira com que nos apresentamos. E essa percepção fica ainda mais forte se não houver nenhum tipo de identidade ou individualidade. Ao mesmo tempo, estamos executando canções, e há muita indivudualidade nisso. Mas o foco não é em quem somos ou no que fizemos na última semana. O que dizemos é o que mostramos ao público. Mas é difícil explicar. Porque todo mundo presume que seja apenas um golpe de marketing. Agora transformou-se num golpe de marketing, porque voltou-se a nosso favor. Mas não é esse o real significado para as pessoas que ouvem nossa música.

G1 — Você já conheceu alguém que realmente teve medo da banda?

"Nameless Ghoul" — Bem, há ocasiões realmente bem esquisitas (risos). Certa vez, o diretor de palco de um festival do qual participamos caiu no choro quando nos viu. Era um homem muito religioso, sentia que estávamos fazendo algo errado. Chorou praticamente durante todo o tempo em que permanecemos no palco. Nunca vi nada parecido. Às vezes também há protestos, mas nada que realmente afete a banda. Mas é uma pena, pois acho que coisas assim tiram o foco do que fazemos.

G1 — A apresentação no Rock in Rio será a primeira da banda no Brasil. Qual a expectativa com relação aos fãs brasileiros?

"Nameless Ghoul" — Acho que vai ser incrível. Já queríamos ir à América do Sul há um bom tempo. Desde que começamos, temos recebido muito apoio dessa parte do planeta. Mas é muito difícil de ir até aí, porque é muito longe. No caso de uma banda como a nossa, é mais difícil ainda, porque são necessárias uma série de providências (risos). Além disso, ainda não havíamos tido uma oportunidade grandiosa como esta. Tocar no Rock in Rio é obviamente uma grande honra. É um festival clássico. Até onde eu sei, somos a primeira banda sueca a tocar no evento.

G1 — Como será o show por aqui?

"Nameless Ghoul" — Será muito especial. Bem mais produzido e nada comparável aos trechos de nossos shows publicados no YouTube. O que se vê na internet é apenas um fragmento do que pretendemos mostrar no ano que vem. Vai ser diferente e muito interessante.

ROCK in RIO 2013 \\ Slayer e Ghost oficialmente confirmados

Fãs de metal, respirem fundo. O Rock in Rio acaba de adicionar mais peso ao line-up da sua edição 2013 com duas novas atrações: as bandas Slayer e Ghost.
Os suecos do Ghost tocam no dia 19 de setembro, fechando a programação do Palco Mundo dessa data que já conta com Metallica, Alice in Chains e Sepultura e Tambores du Bronx. Já os norte-americanos do Slayer sobem ao palco no dia 22 de setembro, mesma data de mesmo dia de Avenged Sevenfold e Iron Maiden.

Com a identidade mantida em segredo, o Ghost é composto por seis integrantes, sendo cinco destes (guitarra solo, guitarra rítmica, teclado, baixo e bateria) chamados de Nameless Ghouls, que significa “bestas sem nome”, em português. Eles se apresentam totalmente encapuzados e, durante os shows, o vocalista da banda, Papa Emeritus — nome também fictício, sobe ao palco com uma caveira pintada no rosto. Especulações apontam que sem o capuz e a maquiagem eles seriam integrantes de outras bandas suecas famosas na cena de Death / Black Metal.

Desde 1981 na estrada, o Slayer é influência certa de grandes bandas como Slipknot, Sepultura e Killswitch Engage. Seu estilo, com vocais pesados e vários solos de guitarra, envolve metal e até punk rock. As melodias agressivas e a arte visual temática dos álbuns são marcas registradas banda. A partir de “Show no Mercy”, disco de estreia lançado em 1983, o Slayer já lançou 21 produtos, entre boxes, discos ao vivo, álbuns em estúdio, EPs e DVDs. Já recebeu quatro indicações ao Grammy, sendo vencedora duas vezes: em 2006 com a canção “Eyes of the Insane” e, em 2007, com a música “Final Six”, na categoria “Melhor
 Performance Metal”.

Segundo Henrique Porto, do canal G1, "Os dias de metal da próxima edição brasileira do Rock in Rio ganharam reforços robustos nesta segunda-feira (17), quando foram anunciadas outras duas novas atrações, ambas para o Palco Mundo: o grupo sueco Ghost, que completa a escalação do dia 19 de setembro, ao lado do Metallica, Alice in Chains, Sepultura e Tambores du Bronx; e a banda norte-americana de thrash metal Slayer, que faz show em 22 de setembro, mesmo dia dos grupos Avenged Sevenfold e Iron Maiden.
Chamados de "Bestas sem nome", os suecos prometem um show fora do comum: "Sempre tivemos vontade de ir até a América do Sul. Agora nos parece a oportunidade perfeita. Obviamente que estamos honrados em participar do Rock in Rio, pois já é um festival clássico. Até onde sei, acho que seremos a primeira banda sueca a participar", disse o guitarrista do grupo ao G1, que acrescenta: "Será um show especial, uma produção muito além do que as pessoas costumam assistir em trechos e vídeos publicados no YouTube", anuncia a "besta".

Rocknews\\ Ghost: apresentando o Papa Emeritus II e fazendo cover do Abba

GHOST, a misteriosa banda sueca, fez um show especial na noite passada (sábado, 15 de dezembro) em sua cidade natal, Linköping, Cupolen, durante o qual estreou uma nova música, "Haze Secular", bem como uma versão cover de ABBA "I'm a marionette". Além disso, uma mudança foi feita durante o show, na qual o vocalista da banda, Papa Emeritus I, foi aparentemente "substituído" pelo Papa Emeritus II, com ambos os personagens interpretados pelo vocalista, Tobias Forge (N.T. Essa informação também é nova, pelo menos para mim. Embora existam rumores de que Forge seja o frontman do GHOST, esta é a primeira vez em que eu vejo uma matéria afirmando isto com tanta veemência).

ORION MUSIC \\ METALLICA Frontman Introduces GHOST To 'Orion Music + More' Audience (Video)

Mysterious Swedish heavy rock buzz band GHOST performed at Orion Music + More, the two-day festival created by METALLICA that was held June 23-24 at Bader Field in Atlantic City, New Jersey. METALLICA frontman James Hetfield personally took to the stage to introduce GHOST, telling the audience, "I appreciate you coming coming down early and checking out one of my new favorite bands. From Sweden… It's never too early for scary, all right? Please welcome from Sweden… GHOST."

GHOST is rumored to have inked a deal with Seven Four Ent. The band is said to be the first signing for the label, which is led by former Warner Bros. Records Chairman/CEO Tom Whalley.

Seven Four Ent. in April announced a label deal with Universal Republic Records.
