Entrevista\\ Iron Maiden: sem planos definidos para o ano que vem

Durante uma nova entrevista com a Radio Futuro do Chile, o guitarrista do IRON MAIDEN, Dave Murray, foi perguntado se tinha planos para o retorno da banda aos estúdios para começar a trabalhar no sucessor de "The Final Frontier", de 2010.

"Nós estamos em turnê há alguns meses neste ano" explicou Dave. "Então, quando acabarmos, nós vamos dar uma pausa, na verdade."

Ele continuou: "Nós não temos planos sobre o que vai acontecer no próximo ano. Basicamente, nós vamos esperar para ver [risos]. Mas há coisas que vão acontecer neste meio tempo. Quero dizer, nós acabamos de lançar a cerveja Trooper, e isto está indo muito bem. Vamos então somente deixar a Trooper sair em turnê por nós [risos]. E vamos passar algum tempo nos recuperando. Ainda não estou certo sobre o que vai acontecer no ano que vem. Está tudo no ar."

O IRON MAIDEN chegou à primeira posição da BILLBOARD "Hot Tours" no mês passado, em uma lista das turnês com mais lucro bruto, com US$ 8.5 milhões em ingressos vendidos nas suas seis apresentações no verão europeu.

O 15º álbum de estúdio da banda, "The Final Frontier", traz 10 faixas com um tempo médio de 7 minutos e 40 segundos de duração. Ele vendeu 63.000 cópias em sua primeira semana de vendas nos Estados Unidos, chegando à 4ª posição da Billboard 200.

O frontman Bruce Dickinson, nesta madrugada, próximo das 2h da manhã, foi pegar uma cerveja no final da apresentação do IRON MAIDEN no Rock in Rio. A marca era The Trooper, a bebida customizada da banda, e não uma Heineken, que era a patrocinadora oficial do evento. O cantor logo em seguida falou: "A cerveja servida aqui é tão ruim que tive que trazer a minha".

A brincadeira de Bruce pode causar uma briga com a publicidade do Rock in Rio. Segundo o site Adnews, a Heineken investiu R$ 23 milhões em patrocínio, ações de trade e inserções de mídia no festival, o que pode ser um dos seus maiores investimentos no ano. Se a marca continuar anunciando no Rock in Rio, um desaforo vindo do cantor do Maiden pode ser um afastamento da banda nas próximas edições do festival.

O crítico Marcelo Soares, no jornal Folha de S. Paulo, também lembrou que o Iron Maiden não fez a propaganda da cerveja por acaso. A Donzela de Ferro se transformou em uma banda com um forte apelo de negócio, com muito comércio de camisetas e produtos customizados. O Iron Maiden, de uma certa forma, segue a cartilha de roqueiros consagrados como Rolling Stones, Kiss, Metallica, o AC/DC e o U2. O Whitesnake, outro grande símbolo do hard rock, tinha sua própria marca de vinho. O Motörhead concorre com o Maiden no ramo de cervejas.

Atualmente, muitas bandas recorrem aos produtos de outros ramos com suas marcas para se capitalizar. Esse processo é descrito por Chris Anderson, ex-editor-chefe da revista WIRED, no livro ¨Free - o futuro dos preços¨. É um claro sinal que os grupos musicais não conseguem se sustentar apenas com a venda de discos. Por isso, turnês e produtos diferenciados ajudam a sustentar a empresa.

Souvenirs\\ Iron Maiden: cerveja Trooper chega a São Paulo

A cerveja Trooper, idealizada pela banda IRON MAIDEN, chegou ao Brasil e já pode ser encontrada na rede de Supermercados Pão de Açucar e em bares especializados.

Gustavo Nogueira Sanches, sócio da empresa On Trade, importadora e distribuidora do produto no Brasil, falou ao Estadão: "Encomendamos 20 mil caixas e nos entregaram 10 mil. A Robinsons é uma microcervejaria e eles chegaram a parar a produção de outras marcas para só produzir a Trooper".

A cerveja Trooper vem em garrafas de 500ml e é do tipo Ale, de alta fermentação. De acordo com a reportagem do Estadão, o preço varia entre R$ 18,00 (supermercados) e R$ 26,00 (bares).

SEFOTEU\\ IRON MAIDEN Drummer's Son Arrested In Florida

According to BocaNewsNow.com, Justin McBrain, the 20-year-old son of IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain, was arrested early this morning for allegedly burglarizing an occupied dwelling and 2nd degree petit theft. He is being held on $25,000 bond in the Palm Beach County Jail.

A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson tells BocaNewsNow.com that deputies responded to a West Boca home after receiving a call that McBrain forced his way inside. The female homeowner reported that McBrain knocked repeatedly and then pushed his way in when the door was opened. McBrain allegedly rifled through the woman’s purse, taking a half-eaten chocolate bunny, half of an orange — which he consumed in the home — a belly ring, cosmetics, and a freezer pack.

As previously reported, Nicko McBrain's wife Rebecca is due in court on May 3 to defend herself against allegations that she attempted to stab a man, then threw logs at him at her Boca Raton, Florida home. It is unclear if the man was Nicko.

Rebecca McBrain, 50, was arrested on February 24 and charged with battery after she allegedly tried to stab the man with a decorative lance. Although the stabbing attempt failed, Rebecca was allegedly successful in hitting the man with logs that had been sitting in a firepit behind the house, causing minor injuries. She was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on bond.

She has entered a plea of "not guilty."

On March 2, Nicko McBrain performed at The Classic Rock & Roll Party at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Proceeds from the event went to HomeSafe, a non-profit organization helping society's most vulnerable residents — victims of severe child abuse and domestic violence in Palm Beach County and South Florida.

According to a 1994 article in the Sun Sentinel, Nicko and Rebecca met in 1984 at the Button South in Fort Lauderdale. They married five years later and have made a home in Boca Raton around their son, Justin.

"It's very peaceful here. And there are great golf courses," Nicko said about living in Boca Raton.

He added: "This is a great community. After the humdrum life on the road, the last thing I want to come home to is craziness."

Rebecca comes from a big family in West Virginia and did some modeling while studying at Marshall University in Huntington. In 1985, she was a finalist in the Miss West Virginia Pageant.

Back in July 2003, Nicko McBrain was arrested for allegedly hitting a parking lot attendant — on purpose — with his black Jaguar after a disagreement over McBrain's VIP credentials before a concert at Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh, New York. "It's one of those things that happened that shouldn't have happened, but it did, and over time, you sort of look at it and go, 'Gosh, that was silly,'" Nicko said in an August 2004 interview. "And the other guy that was involved with it, I'm sure he's sitting there thinking [the same thing]."

Confirmado: o Iron Maiden toca em São Paulo, no dia 20 (Jockey Club), e no dia 24 em Curitiba. Ghost e Slayer serão as responsáveis pela abertura do evento.

A partir do dia 23 de abril, os ingressos para o show na capital paulista estarão disponíveis para venda por meio do Livepass - os de Curitiba serão em breve anunciados no site da produtora XYZ. A turnê que a banda traz ao país é a Maiden England, mesmo show que encerrará o Rock in Rio, no dia 22 de setembro.

É o que afirma José Norberto Flesch, em seu Twitter e no site do Jornal Destak.
Outros músicos que tocarão no Rock in Rio também farão turnê pelo Brasil depois. John Mayer e Rob Zombie, por exemplo, ainda não têm datas definidas. O Metallica tem planos de se apresentar em São Paulo e Belo Horizonte. Jon Bon Jovi anunciou na Globo que a banda tocará em São Paulo também.

Mas a melhor de todas é: Iron Maiden e Slayer juntos em São Paulo, Curitiba e Porto Alegre. Ainda sem datas definidas. Flesch também afirma que a turnê conjunta se estenderá para o Paraguai, Chile e Argentina.

Plus a return to Austin, Texas for a show at the 360 Amphitheater on September 10, the first time the band have played in that city since the original "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" tour twenty-five years ago!

Before they finally head south towards Brazil, MAIDEN will also headline a very special event at the San Manuel Amphitheater, San Bernardino, California. The Battle Of San Bernardino will take place on Friday, September 13. ANTHRAX, TESTAMENT, OVERKILL and SABATON will join tour special guests MEGADETH for this performance only, making for a big, loud and exciting day out for metal fans in Southern California.

Luto \\ Former IRON MAIDEN Drummer CLIVE BURR Dies

British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN have released the following statement:

"We are deeply saddened to report that Clive Burr passed away last night. He had suffered poor health for many years after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and died peacefully in his sleep at home."

IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris said: "This is terribly sad news. Clive was a very old friend of all of us. He was a wonderful person and an amazing drummer who made a valuable contribution to MAIDEN in the early days when we were starting out. This is a sad day for everyone in the band and those around him and our thoughts and condolences are with his partner Mimi and family at this time."

Added MAIDEN vocalist Bruce Dickinson: "I first met Clive when he was leaving SAMSON and joining IRON MAIDEN. He was a great guy and a man who really lived his life to the full. Even during the darkest days of his M.S., Clive never lost his sense of humour or irreverence. This is a terribly sad day and all our thoughts are with Mimi and the family."

Clive joined MAIDEN in 1979 and performed on the first three albums — "Iron Maiden" (1980), "Killers" (1981) and "The Number Of The Beast" (1982). Prior to that, he was a member of SAMSON, the band Bruce fronted before he too joined MAIDEN.

IRON MAIDEN established the Clive Burr MS Trust Fund in 2002 to benefit Clive Burr.

IRON MAIDEN mascot Eddie last week attended Carnival, a world-famous festival held in Rio De Janeiro before Lent every year and considered the biggest carnival in the world with two million people per day on the streets.

Although Carnival (Carnaval in Portuguese) is celebrated in towns and villages throughout Brazil and other Catholic countries, Rio de Janeiro has long been regarded as the Carnival Capital of the World. Nominations for the 55th annual Grammy Awards were announced tonight by The Recording Academy and reflected an eclectic mix of the best and brightest in music over the past year, as determined by the voting members of The Academy. For the fifth year, nominations for the annual Grammy Awards were announced on primetime television as part of "The Grammy Nominations Concert Live! — Countdown To Music's Biggest Night", a one-hour CBS entertainment special broadcast live for the first time ever at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The 55th annual Grammy Awards will be held on "Grammy Sunday," Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, (8:00-11:30 p.m., live ET/delayed PT) at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

"The Grammy Awards process once again has produced a diverse and impressive list of nominations across multiple genres," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. ROCK in RIO 2013 \\ Metallica e Iron Maiden estão no Rock in Rio 2013

Mais três bandas foram confirmadas, nesta terça-feira (16), para o Rock in Rio de 2013, que acontecerá em setembro na cidade do Rio de Janeiro: Bruce Springsteen, Metallica e Iron Maiden. O anúncio foi feito em entrevista coletiva no Cristo Redentor, no Rio.

Já estão confirmados também George Benson, Ivan Lins, Sepultura e Tambores do Bronx. Os palcos alternativos prometem novidades em 2013. E shows como Sepultura e Tambores do Bronx fizeram um sucesso tão grande que hoje migraram para o Palco Mundo.
"Estamos melhores do que qualquer cidade do mundo em fazer eventos grandes", disse Roberto Medina durante a coletiva. Ele quer aumentar ainda mais os índices de satisfação do público. "Vou fazer um evento melhor do que fiz antes", prometeu. Até o início de 2013, segundo Roberto, todo o cast de bandas estará anunciando.
Bruce Springsteen 25 anos depois
O site oficial de Bruce Springsteen publicou nota sobre o show logo após o anúncio e lembrou que a apresentação vai acontecer 25 anos após seu primeiro e até então único show no Brasil, em 1988, em São Paulo.
Em setembro, a vice-presidente executiva do festival, Roberta Medina, afirmou ao G1 que presença de Bruce Springsteen estava nos planos da organização.
Público reduzidoA edição de 2013 do evento está prevista para acontecer nos dias 13, 14, 15, 19, 20 e 21 de setembro, na Cidade do Rock. Diferentemente de 2011, quando cerca de 100 mil pessoas circularam pela Cidade do Rock por dia, na quinta edição a capacidade do espaço será reduzida para 85 mil pessoas. Em 2011, os ingressos antecipados se esgotaram em apenas 21 dias.
A venda antecipada das entradas para o evento começa no dia 30 de outubro. O ingresso, chamado de Rock in Rio Card, garante a entrada do público antes do anúncio das atrações. Após o anúncio da programação, o comprador pode escolher em qual dia vai utilizar as suas entradas. A venda será limitada a quatro cartões por pessoa, sendo uma meia-entrada.

 

O valor do ingresso inteiro é de R$ 260 por dia. A venda de ingressos será feita pelo site oficial do festival, por meio da Ingresso.com. A escolha pelo dia da entrada, antes da venda do restante dos ingressos ao público geral, será feita entre 1º de fevereiro e 1º de abril de 2013.
A organização adiantou que o pagamento poderá ser feito por cartão de crédito, parcelado em até quatro vezes. Clientes do banco Itaú vão ter 15% de desconto. Clientes Rock in Rio Club terão direito à pré-venda exclusiva, entre os dias 20 e 29 de outubro, através do site da Ingresso.com, também com desconto de 15% nos ingressos inteiros.

Em nota divulgada por sua assessoria de imprensa, o cantor Latino anuncia que comprou 40% dos direitos de “Fear of the Dark“, um dos maiores sucessos da banda de heavy metal Iron Maiden.
“Fear of the Dark” é uma canção escrita por Steve Harris, baixista e compositor principal da banda britânica, fazendo parte do álbum homónimo de 1992 Fear of the Dark.

Com 40% da canção em seu poder, Latino tem o direito legal de gravar uma versão do sucesso, assim como fez recentemente com Gangnam Style. Segundo a mesma nota divulgada pelo cantor, os empresários esperam conseguir até o final de 2012 mais 15% dos direitos da música, de forma que até tocá-la em show e programas de televisão será permitido.

Em declaração para uma fonte não oficial, Latino diz ser fã do Maiden e que, inclusive, muito da sua essência musical se deve aos discos da banda, que marcou sua infância enquanto criança, no suburbio do Rio de Janeiro. “Meu CD preferido é o The Number of the Beast. Por mais que a banda seja satânica, a batida é muito boa e empolga até alguns cristãos, como eu. É uma realização poder fazer essa versão nacional, espero que os fãs gostem e se divirtam muito nas festas”, diz orgulhoso o cantor.

Segundo Latino, a expectativa é que o hit se torne seu maior sucesso de 2013: “A canção se chamará ‘Com Medo do Escurinho’ e terá uma pegada mais descontraída que a original, mas mantendo a energia forte do Iron Maiden”.

No dia 13 de Julho de 2013, a turnê ‘Maiden England’ do IRON MAIDEN irá chegar à Suécia, onde a banda irá tocar na Friends Arena, o novo estádio nacional de Estocolmo.

O show do Maiden é o primeiro de rock a ser anunciado na nova arena, com capacidade para 50 mil pessoas.
