According to The Jerusalem Post, Ozzy Osbourne arrived in Israel on Sunday, ahead of Tuesday's (September 28) Ozzfest concert in Tel Aviv's Hayarkon Park. Earlier today, he held a press conference at Tel Aviv's Sheraton Hotel where he was asked why he hadn't come to Israel before. Osbourne replied, "No reason, really. I mean, I was drunk for too many years." Ozzy also dismissed any talk of artistic boycotts of Israel, saying "I have no time for politics, they [politicians] don't understand me and I don't understand them."

Osbourne's wife/manager Sharon drew a parallel to "the troubles" in Northern Ireland that plagued England in past decades, saying "it's the same as when we had all the problems with the IRA and no one refused to perform in England, so I don't know why people don't come here."

According to Ynet, the Israeli edition of Ozzy's travelling festival, Ozzfest, is reportedly costing nearly $2 million to put on. Ticket prices were originally 325 Israel New Shekels (around $84), and were subsequently raised to 425 Israel New Shekels (around $110). VIP packages — including an actual seat, T-shirt and luxury accommodations — are costing 1,100 Israel New Shekels (around $283).

Metal Exiles: Como está sendo o Ozzfest para você? Você está se divertindo?

Halford: Sem dúvidas. Eu acredito que o Ozzfest ainda é um evento significativo. Como você sabe, toda a idéia por trás do Ozzfest é que Sharon e Ozzy perceberam é que Ozzy é um cara famoso, e como muitos de nós foi sortudo por ter conquistado uma carreira longa e bem sucedida, e isso não é uma tarefa simples de conquistar. Não é fácil. Existem várias pessoas enolvidas nessa jornada que você embarcou. Ozzy has released "Life Won't Wait", the second single from his Epic Records album "Scream", which entered the charts in June in the Top Ten in more than 10 countries.

Ozzy Osbourne filmed a video for "Life Won't Wait" earlier this month at various locations in Los Angeles with Osbourne's son Jack in the director's chair.

Ozzy's first-ever official free iTunes app — simply called Ozzy — is available now and allows fans to enter the world of The Prince of Darkness. Users can experience music from Ozzy's 30-year solo career with access to a full discography featuring direct links to his iTunes page for a one-stop link to purchase of any song or album from his catalog. "Exhibit B: The Human Condition", the new album from EXODUS, sold around 4,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 114 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Ozzy Osbourne (BLACK SABBATH) and Rob Halford (JUDAS PRIEST) were interviewed on last night's (Friday, April 30) edition of "Sixx Sense", the new national radio program hosted by MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx, about their involvement in this year's installment of Ozzy's long-running traveling metal festival, Ozzfest.

More than 15 years after Ozzfest's debut, the festival returns this August in six American cities with a bill co-headlined by Ozzy and, in their first-ever Ozzfest appearance, MÖTLEY CRÜE — touring together for the first time with Ozzy since he invited the group on their now-legendary 1984 arena tour.

The main stage will feature full sets from OZZY, MÖTLEY CRÜE and HALFORD (whose frontman Rob Halford last appeared on Ozzfest in 2004 with JUDAS PRIEST), performing songs from Rob Halford's solo career along with material from JUDAS PRIEST and FIGHT. DEVILDRIVER and NONPOINT will round out the main-stage lineup. Speaking to the Artisan News Service, Nikki stated about MÖTLEY CRÜE's participation in this year's Ozzfest, "When they called up and asked us, it wasn't even like we thought about it. [We were just like], 'Yes,' immediately. We kind of planned on taking the summer off. We've been out on tour for awhile and we just kind of wanted to be home and be off — like you [addressing Ozzy] took some time off — but this is an opportunity that I think only comes along once and we're gonna do it and we're really excited about doing it."



Halford was equally excited about taking part in this year's tour. "This is something I'm really grateful to Ozz for — to get the chance to put my solo band out for the first time in five years," he said. "But… yeah, the Ozzfest is just… every one is special. If you look at the history of the Ozzfest, every one has got special memories attached to it and I'm sure that that's what will happen with this one [in 2010] — there'll be some magical mad moments."

More than 15 years after OZZY OSBOURNE debuted Ozzfest, the defining blueprint for hard rock tours and festivals returns this August in six American cities with an explosive bill co-headlined by Ozzy and, in their first-ever Ozzfest appearance, MÖTLEY CRÜE — touring together for the first time with Ozzy since he invited the group on their now-legendary 1984(picture) arena tour. Expect the energy to go way off the charts at the all-day extravaganza of music and deranged merriment.

The 2010 Ozzfest will kick off August 14 in San Bernardino (the birthplace of the first Ozzfest in 1996) and then make stops in Chicago, Illinois; Hartford, Connecticut; Camden, New Jersey; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Boston, Massachusetts.



The main stage will feature full sets from OZZY, MÖTLEY CRÜE and HALFORD (whose frontman Rob Halford last appeared on Ozzfest in 2004 with JUDAS PRIEST), performing songs from Rob Halford's solo career along with material from JUDAS PRIEST and FIGHT. DEVILDRIVER and NONPOINT will round out the main-stage lineup. Second-stage headliners and six-time Ozzfest veterans BLACK LABEL SOCIETY will be joined by DROWNING POOL, KINGDOM OF SORROW, GOATWHORE, SKELETONWITCH, SAVIOURS and KATAKLYSM.

Each Ozzfest date will include 13 bands on two stages with music beginning at 1:00 p.m. In addition, concert-goers can once again visit the Ozzfest "Village of the Damned" featuring a mix of interactive activities, shopping and entertainment throughout the venue concourses.

These Ozzfest dates mark the first concerts in the U.S. in connection with the June 15 release of "Scream" (Epic Records), the Ozzfest founder's first album in three years and 10th studio album overall. Produced by Ozzy and Kevin Churko, both of whom did the same honors for Ozzy's 2007 worldwide million-seller "Black Rain", the album will feature the first single "Let Me Hear You Scream".

The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Famer recorded most of "Scream" at his Los Angeles home studio, The Bunker, and co-wrote all the songs, primarily with Churko. Notably, the album marks the first appearance of Ozzy's new guitar player, Gus G. (FIREWIND, ex-DREAM EVIL, ARCH ENEMY). Ozzy's band also features bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson, drummer Tommy Clufetos (ex-ROB ZOMBIE, ALICE COOPER) and keyboardist Adam Wakeman.

Ozzfest did not take place in 2009 after Osbourne stated that he did not want to tour until he had a new album in stores. The move was not really surprising, given the festival's scaled-down reconfiguration as a one-day event in 2008 after more than a decade as a full-length summer tour.

In addition to the general slowdown in both the economy and the concert business, Ozzfest began facing competition in 2008 from the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour and Crüe Fest.

Tour co-organizer Sharon Osbourne experimented in 2007 by making the show admission-free, with fans obtaining tickets through corporate sponsors. But the bands were not paid either, leading to a lack of big names.

The 2008 "destination festival" took place on August 9, 2008 in Dallas and featured METALLICA, SERJ TANKIAN and others along with headliner Ozzy.

A post at the official Ozzfest web site says that an announcement about this year's edition of the festival will be made on Friday night (April 30). According to The Pulse of Radio, the timing of the news seems odd, since Friday nights are considered a "news dump" where things are announced purposely to gather the least attention. OZZY OSBOURNE will, of course, headline the show, and sources tell The Pulse of Radio that one rumored main stage configuration includes METALLICA, ALICE IN CHAINS, DOWN and MASTODON.

Names rumored for the second stage include BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OTEP, KITTIE, 36 CRAZYFISTS and others.
