KORN's eleventh studio album, "The Paradigm Shift" (Prospect Park), sold 46,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 8 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores on October 8, 2013 via Prospect Park.

"The Paradigm Shift" is the first KORN disc to feature guitarist Brian "Head" Welch since 2003's "Take A Look In The Mirror" and follows up 2011's dubstep experiment, "The Path Of Totality".

Welch told Rolling Stone that the new album has "the old KORN vibe, but with a new twist . . . The end product is a really good mix of old KORN mixed with some new elements. It's got a fresh new KORN 2013 sound."

Welch left KORN in 2005 after he converted to Christianity and got off drugs. He rejoined them for a handful of live performances in 2012 before officially becoming part of the lineup again in early 2013.

KORN will kick off its new world tour in Australia on February 20.

KORN is bringing back the Family Values festival for one day, on October 5, at the 1st Bank Center in Denver, Colorado. Joining the headliners at the event will be HOLLYWOOD UNDEAD, ASKING ALEXANDRIA, MACHINE GUN KELLY and BEWARE OF DARKNESS. KORN launched what was initially the Family Values Tour in 1998, with additional runs in 1999, 2001, 2006 and 2007.

KORN singer Jonathan Davis told The Pulse Of Radio back then that the philosophy behind Family Values was simple. "The bottom line is having good bands and it's all about the fans having fun," he said. "Not necessarily any kind of statement, or any kind of like crazy thing we're trying to get across, we just want kids to have the ability to come to a place and not have to spend a lot of money and have a good time. And see a lot of great bands." 

Among the acts that appeared on the tour were STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, LINKIN PARK, EVANESCENCE, PRIMUS and DMX, along with LIMP BIZKIT and RAMMSTEIN. This is the first time that Family Values has been a one-off event. The date falls three days before the October 8 release of KORN's 11th studio album, "The Paradigm Shift", which features the return of founding guitarist Brian "Head" Welch after eight years away from the group.

Beginning today (Tuesday, August 13), fans are able to pre-order "The Paradigm Shift" and purchase "Never Never". The effort will be available in standard and deluxe editions, with the deluxe showcasing two bonus tracks and a documentary DVD titled "Reconciliation".

"Never Never" features slow hulking beat stomps into screeching electronics before bleeding out on a bouncy chorus evocative of the swooping prowess of "Got the Life" and "Freak On A Leash". "It was an amazing night when we finished that song," says frontman Jonathan Davis. "It's a relationship song. You go through that shit and you get hurt so bad. Then you think, 'It's not worth it anymore. I'm not going to fucking love again.' You experience so many pressures to be a good dad, a good husband, a good lover, or whatever. Being in a relationship is a lot of work."
Other songs on the new set, which was recorded with producer Don Gilmore (LINKIN PARK, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, LACUNA COIL) at Buck Owens' studio in KORN's original hometown Bakersfield and at Los Angeles's famed NRG Recording Studios, include "Prey For Me", "Love & Meth", "Spike In My Veins", "Mass Hysteria", "Paranoid And Aroused" and "Victimized".

KORN is currently working on the follow-up to 2011's "The Path To Totality" with the help of returning guitarist and original bandmember Brian "Head" Welch.

Welch, who last played with KORN on their 2003 album "Take A Look In The Mirror", told RollingStone.com about his renewed collaboration with the band: "We knew we would have a blast playing together, because we love each other so much, but we really wanted to make sure the music felt right before we committed to making a whole album together. But since we got in the studio, everything just started pouring out, now I can't wait until our fans hear this stuff!"

KORN's as-yet-untitled new album is due late summer.

Welch will reunite with KORN for a number of shows this spring and summer, including two dates in Germany, one concert in the United Kingdom and at the upcoming Rock On The Range festival in Columbus, Ohio.

The guitarist joined KORN onstage for the song "Blind" in May 2012 at the Carolina Rebellion festival in Rockingham, North Carolina, marking the first time in eight years that KORN played with Welch.

Welch left KORN in 2005 to become a born-again Christian. The band never officially replaced him and stayed a four-piece, although they've used several touring guitarists for live work.

RUMOURS\\ Korn no Brasil em 2012: show em Curitiba confirmado

A banda norte-americana Korn anunciou através de seu site oficial uma apresentação em Curitiba no festival Greenfest Brasil que ainda conta com nomes como Run-DMC e Planet Hemp. A apresentação está agendada para o dia 11 de novembro (domingo) na área do BioParque. Novas informações e outras datas no país deverão ser anunciados em breve.

Korn foi a banda que revolucionou a música heavy na década de 90. Formada por Jonathan Davis (vocais e gaita de foles), Fieldy (baixo), David Silveria (bateria e percussão), James "Munky" Shaffer (guitarra) e Brian "Head" Welch (guitarra).

Com letras que retratam experiências autobiográficas do vocalista, o som do grupo mistura elementos do heavy metal e rap, o que deu origem, na época, ao estilo nu metal ou novo metal em português. De acordo com a rádio argentina FMRockandPop, a programação do festivais Maquinaria no país contará com as bandas Kiss, Marilyn Manson, Korn, Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Bush, Offspring e Gogol Bordello.

O Maquinaria é um festival relacionado ao SWU; ambos costumam dividir atrações. Segundo a rádio, estas bandas estariam escaladas para possíveis apresentações na edições do Maquinaria Chile, Argentina e Paraguai e, portanto, teriam boas possibilidade de se apresentarem no festival brasileiro.

Reiteramos que, até que sejam oficialmente anunciadas, qualquer banda citada é apenas uma hipótese. Reiteramos também que o fechamento de atrações para o Maquinaria é apenas um bom indício do fechamento de line-ups semelhantes para o SWU como ocorreu nos anos anteriores, mas divergências podem ocorrer.

RUMOURS\\ Indícios de que Slayer, Mastodon e Korn virão para o festival

O SWU 2012 terá Slayer, Mastodon e Korn como principais atrações da noite do metal, de acordo com o jornal Destak. Segundo a publicação, as três bandas se juntam a Weezer e Soundgarden como os nomes internacionais do evento.

Ainda não há confirmação de data ou local do festival - rumores apontam para uma coletiva oficial na próxima sexta-feira, que oficializaria o line-up com o nomes já citados e a mudança da sede para o Anhembi, na cidade de São Paulo.

O SWU foi promovido pela primeira vez em outubro de 2010, em Itu, no estado de São Paulo. Em 2011, foi transferido para o município de Paulínia e, apesar de ter sido anunciado um acordo que previa cinco edições nesta cidade, a mudança de política cultural em Paulínia vai forçar a itinerância do SWU mais uma vez.
