HAIL no Brasil \\ HAIL! faz apresentação em São Paulo

A superbanda HAIL!, formada por Tim “Ripper” Owens (vocalista, Beyond Fear, Yngwie Malmsteen, ex-Judas Priest e Iced Earth), Andreas Kisser (guitarrista Sepultura), James Lomenzo (baixista, ex-Megadeth, Black Label Society, White Lion) e Paul Bostaph (baterista, ex-Testament, Slayer, Exodus), fará uma apresentação, no próximo dia 04 de março, no Blackmore Rock Bar, em São Paulo.

Agenda\\ Sepultura, Hail e outros artistas em cruzeiro no litoral brasileiro

Em janeiro de 2011 será realizado o Motorcycle Rock Cruise, primeiro cruzeiro temático com encontro de motociclistas do Brasil em alto mar. A trilha sonora do encontro, obviamente, não poderia ser outra que não o Rock n’ Roll. E as atrações confirmadas para o cruzeiro são as bandas Sepultura, Hail, Big Noize e Jeff Scott Soto.

Serão quatro dias a bordo de um navio com programação voltada aos aficionados de motociclismo e Rock n’ Roll. Além dos shows, haverá o sorteio entre os presentes de duas motos Harley Davidson Sportster 883. A partida e chegada será na cidade de Santos/SP.

Além do Sepultura e de Jeff Scott Soto - que dispensam apresentações - o evento contrá com o Big Noize, grupo formado por importantes nomes do cenário da música pesada mundial: Joe Lynn Turner (voz), Vinnie Appice (bateria - Heaven & Hell), Carlos Cavazo (guitarra, ex-Quiet Riot) e Phil Soussan (baixo, ex-Ozzy Osbourne). HAIL! — a global touring machine composed of a tight-knit brotherhood of music's most highly respected and talented artists — performed a very special one-off concert on August 14, 2010 at the G-Taranaki festival in Taranaki/New Plymouth, New Zealand with a lineup featuring vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ICED EARTH), guitar virtuoso Tony Macalpine, legendary bassist Tony Franklin (THE FIRM, BLUE MURDER, WHITESNAKE) and JUDAS PRIEST drummer Scott Travis.

The band has issued the following recap of the experience:

"We had a great time at the G-Taranaki festival this past week.

"Our newest HAIL! brothers, Scott Travis, Tony Franklin and Tony Macalpine, CRUSHED it.

"With only one short rehearsal and an unworldly impromptu 'talk-through' kind of jam in the dressing room (highlighted by Scott playing a lounge chair and a light stand!), the night went off in amazing fashion.

"It is such an honor and privilege to witness and experience these types of magical moments that happen when musicians of this caliber just close their eyes and flow together. It truly is the magic of music.

"We played two shows, the main set at TSB Stadium and then a more intimate VIP type 'midnight session' at the Puke Ariki Museum.

"In the spirit of the jam, we didn't have any real plan so what better way to kick start things then with a Lemmy-sized boot to the face?! …and 'Ace Of Spades' did just that. We followed that with the fan-friendly sing along of AC/DC's 'TNT' (OY!), BLACK SABBATH's 'Heaven And Hell' and 'Mob Rules'. Jennifer Batten rejoined us for 'Living After Midnight' and another guitar assault of trading volleys with Tony and then Slash, Uli, Tony Franklin and Brent Fitz jammed the rest of the evening away in a guitar lesson that won't be forgotten.

Rocknews\\ Heavy metal fecha Rock in Rio Lisboa

O show da banda de heavy metal alemã Rammstein encerrou neste domingo (30) o festival Rock in Rio Lisboa, que, após cinco dias de música de todos os gêneros, voltará à capital portuguesa em 2012.

A energia do Rammstein acendeu cerca de 40 mil espectadores, que puderam desfrutar de efeitos especiais e pirotécnicos.

A banda retornou a Portugal para apresentar seu sexto álbum, "Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da", após ter esgotado meses atrás todas as entradas do show que fez no Pavilhão Atlântico de Lisboa.

Os alemães fecharam uma noite de heavy metal que começou com a música do Soulfly, banda liderada pelo brasileiro Max Cavalera, ex-líder do Sepultura, que apresentaram durante seu show o disco "Omen", lançado neste mês de maio.



Em seguida, subiu ao palco o Motorhead, que tocou os sucessos de seus 35 anos de carreira e cantou as melhores músicas de seus mais de 20 discos editados.

Antes que o Rammstein provocasse a histeria no espetáculo, o Megadeath revolucionou o palco em seu retorno a Portugal após seis anos.

A banda, formada em 1983, apresentou para os portugueses seu último álbum, "Endgame", lançado em setembro do ano passado.

A edição deste ano do Rock in Rio Lisboa registrou um total de 329 mil espectadores, público abaixo do festival em 2008, quando mais de 354 mil pessoas desfrutaram da música ao vivo do evento.

Em entrevista cedida à imprensa na última terça-feira (25), os oito membros do grupo de rock Slipknot choraram a morte do baixista Paul Gray e o lembraram como um homem de grande coração e que representava tudo o que eles amavam na banda.

Os integrantes falaram sem discursos prontos e não responderam a perguntas. Nenhum dado foi mencionado sobre as circunstâncias da morte de Gray.

"Perdemos nosso irmão, e o mundo parece mais pequeno após isso. Ele tinha o maior coração que qualquer um já conheceu", disse o vocalista Corey Taylor. "A única palavra que pode resumí-lo é amor."

Gray, um dos fundadores do grupo conhecido pelo uso de bizarras máscaras e letras obscuras e agressivas, foi encontrado morto em um quarto de hotel nos Estados Unidos na segunda-feira.

Os membros do Slipknot, em rara aparição feita sem máscaras, estavam junto à mulher de Gray, Brenna, que está grávida.

Brenna disse que sua filha irá crescer sabendo do legado deixado pelo pai. "Meu marido era uma pessoa maravilhosa e eu quero que ele seja lembrado por isso. E sua filha irá conhecê-lo pelo que ele foi."

Policiais que investigam a morte de Gray disseram na última terça-feira que o resultado da necrópsia feita no cantor era inconclusivo - e que as investigações seguiriam. Médicos envolvidos na operação afirmaram que o resultado dos exames toxicológicos podem levar até seis semanas a sair.

Sobre a banda
O Slipknot surgiu no meio dos anos 1990, e seu primeiro álbum, lançado em 1999, vendeu 2 milhões de cópias. Em 2006, a banda venceu um Grammy pela performance da música "Before i forget".

O último álbum de estúdio do conjunto, "All hope is gone", estreou no topo da parada da Billboard em 2008.

With three weeks of dates booked throughout Europe and Asia, HAIL! — the supergroup featuring mainstays Tim "Ripper" Owens (BEYOND FEAR, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH), David Ellefson (MEGADETH) and Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA) — has announced that it will not cancel its tour in the wake of its bassist Paul Gray's (SLIPKNOT) untimely death.

The band has released the following statement regarding the matter:

"On Monday we were dealt a devastating blow with Paul's passing two days before our departure. We discussed the situation and unanimously thought that in the face of this tragedy we needed to remain strong and push forward because Paul would have vehemently insisted that the show must go on. In a desperate situation we made an emergency call to James Lomenzo and James responded with a Herculean effort, on only one day's notice, to fly to Portugal and rescue the Rock In Rio festival. His immediate and unselfish call to arms single-handedly saved this entire tour."

James Lomenzo has had a long and very successful career, having played with WHITE LION, OZZY OSBOURNE, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and, most recently, MEGADETH.

HAIL! has epitomized the old-school unity and brotherhood of the metal culture that its bandmembers have all grown out of and this is another example of that close-knit circle of friends coming together to help in a time of need.

A autópsia do baixista do SLIPKNOT, Paul Gray(foto sem máscara), não revelou a causa da morte do músico, segundo a polícia de Urbandale, Iowa, informou o DesMoinesRegister.com.

A causa da morte de Gray continua sob investigação, e o departamento médico do condado de Polk espera os resultados dos testes de toxicologia.

O Dr. Gregory Schmunk disse que pode demorar de quatro a seis semanas até que todos os testes estejam concluídos e a causa da morte do músico possa ser determinada, de acordo com a polícia.

A autópsia aparentemente confirmou que não havia evidências de agressões ou traumas, e que Gray estava morto por várias horas quando seu corpo foi encontrado.

In April 2010 it was announced that SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray had joined HAIL!, the supergroup featuring mainstays Tim "Ripper" Owens (BEYOND FEAR, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH), David Ellefson (MEGADETH) and Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA). He was supposed to replace the group's original member, David Ellefson, who was unable to take part in HAIL!'s upcoming touring activities due to his renewed collaboration with MEGADETH.

As previously reported, Gray was found dead in an Iowa hotel room early Monday morning (May 24). He was 38.

Commented HAIL! manager Mark Abbattista: "I spoke to Paul over the weekend, and we had a great conversation. He was so upbeat and excited as we discussed all our final gear and travel details, went through our new setlist and joked about the most fun way to 'unmask' him onstage.

"We were so looking forward to playing with Paul on our upcoming tour and this is a complete tragedy.

"We are all in a state of shock and our heartfelt condolences go out to [Paul's wife] Brenna, his family, SLIPKNOT, their management and all his friends. This is a horrible loss and a very sad day."

HAIL! is scheduled to kick off a three-week tour of Europe and Asia this Saturday, May 30 at the prestigious Rock In Rio festival in Lisbon, Portugal.

An official statement concerning the status of the dates is expected to be released tomorrow.

Back in April, Gray stated about his involvement with HAIL!: "This is going to be amazing! After I heard the news about David reuniting with MEGADETH I touched base with Andreas and everything fell into place pretty immediately. I was excited about what they were doing and their whole attitude is just cool, old school camaraderie and fun and I wanted to share that with them. Fortunately, I had this window of time available as SLIPKNOT are on break so the timing worked perfectly. These guys have been through it all and they represent true metal brotherhood. I like that and I'm glad to now be a part of it. I can't wait, I wish we'd leave tomorrow. These shows are going to kick ass!"

Luto \\ Músicos lamentam a morte de baixista de Paul Gray

Músicos e fãs do mundo todo estão prestando homenagens a Paul Gray, baixista do Slipknot morto nesta segunda, enquanto detalhes de sua morte começam a ser revelados.

Gray, 38, foi encontrado morto pela manhã em um quarto de hotel no estado do Iowa, nos Estados Unidos, por funcionários do local. Eles foram ao quarto a pedido da família do baixista, que estaria preocupada porque o músico não atendia seu telefone.

Um representante do hotel declarou que nada de extraordinário foi encontrado no quarto junto ao corpo de Gray. Ele afirmou ainda que a estadia do músico no local foi tranquila e que ele era conhecido no local por ser um hóspede quieto.

A polícia investiga o caso, mas ainda não há informações sobre a causa da morte. O corpo de Gray deverá ser submetido a uma autópsia ainda hoje.

David Ellefson, baixista do Megadeth, divulgou uma nota de pesar lamentando a morte do amigo. "Fiquei muito chocado e triste ao saber da morte de Paul Gray. Ele era um compositor incrível, um baixista criativo e um amigo querido e gentil", declarou. "Ele era um dos caras bons no nosso ramo, um homem maravilhoso que fará falta a todos nós".

O guitarrista do Korn, James Shaffer, afirmou estar "sem palavras" ao receber a notícia. "Quero mandar minhas orações, meu amor e meu respeito para as pessoas próximas a sua esposa e seu bebê que está para nascer".

Os brasileiros do Sepultura manifestaram surpresa através de um post em seu perfil oficial no Twitter: "RIP Paul Gray, estamos chocados e muito tristes, é mais uma perda trágica para o mundo do metal", escreveram.

Benji Madden, do Good Charlotte, também usou o microblog para lamentar a morte de Paul Gray dedicando "pensamentos e orações ao Slipknot, seus amigos e suas famílias".

Luto\\ Slipknot: baixista do grupo é encontrado morto

De acordo com o Des Moines Register de Urbandale, Iowa, a polícia está investigando a morte do baixista do SLIPKNOT em um hotel local.

Paul Dedrick Gray, 38 anos de idade, foi encontrado morto por volta das 10 e meia da manhã de hoje, 24 de maio de 2010, por um empregado do TownePlace Suites, disse a polícia.

Não havia nenhuma evidência de crime, segundo a polícia, mas a investigação está em curso. Uma autópsia está marcada para terça-feira na qual serão feitos testes de toxicologia.

Em 2003, as autoridades concordaram em suspender as acusações contra Paul Gray referentes a posse de droga contanto que ele reconhecesse que estava drogado quando se envolveu em um acidente de trânsito no verão de 2003 em Des Moines.

A polícia de Des Moines prendeu Gray em 1º de junho de 2003 após seu carro colidir com outro veículo nas avenidas Martin Luther King Jr. com a Parkway Avenue Carpenter. Na época, um relatório da polícia dizia que Gray ‘estava sem equilíbrio, com fala arrastada e monótona, e extremamente sonolento além de apresentar um comportamento lento.’

No Slipknot, Gray era conhecido como ‘Number 2’.

HAIL!, the supergroup featuring mainstays Tim "Ripper" Owens (BEYOND FEAR, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ex-JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH), David Ellefson (MEGADETH) and Andreas Kisser (SEPULTURA), has announced its newest all-star member — Paul Gray from SLIPKNOT will be the new bass player for the band's upcoming European and Asian dates.

"With David Ellefson going back to MEGADETH, we needed someone to help fill-in for him as we had a lot of dates scheduled," said Owens. "We all knew Paul and it was actually Andreas who suggested him first. They had worked together pretty extensively during the 'Roadrunner United' show so it just seemed like a very easy and natural fit."

Kisser's response? “YEEEEAAAAHHHH! This will be f'ing great!!"

David Ellefson graciously passed the torch to his old friend,. I've known Paul for a long time and he's just a great guy," David said. "SLIPKNOT is huge and they have had an enormous impact in carrying on the metal tradition to the newer generation. I'm thrilled for Paul and I'm glad that he will now have this opportunity to share in the HAIL! fun."

Paul Gray shared his excitement: "This is going to be amazing! After I heard the news about David reuniting with MEGADETH I touched base with Andreas and everything fell into place pretty immediately. I was excited about what they were doing and their whole attitude is just cool, old school camaraderie and fun and I wanted to share that with them. Fortunately, I had this window of time available as SLIPKNOT are on break so the timing worked perfectly. These guys have been through it all and they represent true metal brotherhood. I like that and I'm glad to now be a part of it. I can't wait, I wish we’d leave tomorrow. These shows are going to kick ass!"

In addition to Gray, drummer Paul Bostaph (TESTAMENT, SLAYER, EXODUS) will also be rejoining HAIL! for this tour.

"I played the Beirut, Lebanon, show with them back in November and we all just had a blast together," Bostaph said. "The cultural experience was one of a lifetime and hanging out with everybody was awesome. HAIL! has a very, very special thing happening — I mean, come on, first Lebanon and now three dates in Siberia?! Who does that? I'm excited to be playing with them again; they're great guys and I'm honored."

"As always, we plan on having some of our friends come up and jam with us and we already have some very cool guests confirmed. Between us we know a lot of people so you never know what's going to happen," said Kisser.

In the absence of Ellefson, who has returned to MEGADETH, a new bass player has been confirmed.

"This will be a great surprise; wait until you hear who it is!" exclaimed Owens.

The band plans to make its official bassist announcement later this week.
