Ronnie James Dio is one of the most beloved figures in rock history. His gifts, both as a singer and songwriter, are instantly recognizable, whether he was with RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, HEAVEN & HELL, or leading DIO. Sadly, Dio lost his battle with stomach cancer in 2010 but his towering voice and legacy live on.

To celebrate one of rock's most powerful voices, an all-star group of his friends and fans recorded 13 of their favorite tracks for a tribute album that will raise funds for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund. Produced by his longtime manager and wife Wendy Dio, the album includes contributions by such metal heavyweights as METALLICA, MOTÖRHEAD, SCORPIONS, ANTHRAX, and Rob Halford, as well as appearances by many of the musicians who performed with Dio over the years.

"This Is Your Life" will be available from Rhino on April 1. A digital version will also be available.

Although the songs featured on the album touch on the different eras of Dio's career, several spotlight his time with RAINBOW, including METALLICA's epic, nine-minute "Ronnie Rising Medley", which combines the RAINBOW songs "A Light In The Black", "Tarot Woman", "Stargazer" and "Kill The King". SCORPIONS add a scorching take on "Temple Of The King" while MOTÖRHEAD is joined by Biff Byford from SAXON on "Starstruck". Rob Halford teams with frequent Dio collaborators Vinny Appice, Doug Aldrich, Jeff Pilson, and Scott Warren for "Man On The Silver Mountain". The final lineup of Dio's solo band — Simon Wright, Craig Goldy, Rudy Sarzo and Scott Warren — are joined by Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) for "Catch The Rainbow", a track from RAINBOW's 1975 debut.

ANTHRAX and ADRENALINE MOB honor Dio's memorable stint with BLACK SABBATH with their takes on "Neon Knights" and "The Mob Rules", respectively, as does a group, led by Oni Logan on vocals along with Jimmy Bain, Rowan Robertson, and Brian Tichy, which performs "I" from "Dehumanizer".

"This Is Your Life" also includes songs from Dio's back-to-back platinum albums "Holy Diver" (1983) and "The Last In Line" (1984), with DORO's take on "Egypt (The Chains Are On)", HALESTORM tackling "Straight Through The Heart", Corey Taylor (STONE SOUR, SLIPKNOT) covering the classic "Rainbow In The Dark" and TENACIOUS D (Jack Black and Kyle Gass) putting their signature spin on "The Last In Line". KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's cover of "Holy Diver", a hit in its own right when released in 2006, is also included here.

Fittingly, Ronnie James Dio provides the finale (and the album's title) with his moving performance of "This Is Your Life". Originally released on "Angry Machines" (1996), the song's lyrics explore mortality and are backed by a stark and beautiful arrangement that features Dio accompanied only by his longtime keyboardist Scott Warren on piano. The song serves as a poignant reminder that we will never hear a voice like Dio's again.

"I'm letting them pick what songs they wanna do in the way they wanna do it," Wendy told Artisan News in 2011.

"We reached out to Wendy Dio about wanting to be a part of the Dio tribute that's getting put together," METALLICA singer James Hetfield told U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine. "We're very honored to be a part of that, and to be a part of a celebration of Ronnie's life and his great contribution, man."

In an interview with Guitar International, former ANTHRAX guitarist Rob Caggiano stated that the band's cover version of "Neon Knights" "came out pretty smoking."

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, co-founded by Wendy Dio, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable fund dedicated to supporting cancer-prevention research, raising awareness and educating the public about the vital importance of early detection and prevention when dealing with this deadly disease.

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund is a privately funded 501(c)(3) charity organization which has already raised more than $600,000 in its short history. Monies raised to date have been committed to the cancer research work of the T.J. Martell Foundation for Cancer, AIDS and Leukemia Research and the gastric cancer research unit of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where Ronnie was treated for gastric cancer during the last six months of his life.

Sinto-me extremamente triste com essa perda há dois meses atrás assisti um show deles e já pude notar que Lemmy não estava em sua perfeita forma mas me mantive otimista de que nosso grande herói se recuperaria brevemente.

A banda já tinha cancelado alguns shows pela Europa, por conta dos problemas cardíacos enfrentados pelo seu frontman. Na última sexta-feira, durante a apresentação do MOTÖRHEAD no Wacken Open Air, Lemmy se sentiu mal e foi obrigado a abandonar o palco.

Whisky A Go Go has uploaded in-house video footage of THE LEMMYS — the MOTÖRHEAD tribute band composed of members of METALLICA — performing at MOTÖRHEAD mainman Lemmy's 50th-birthday party on December 14, 1995 at the legendary West Hollywood, California venue. Check out the clip below.

"They all dressed up as me, and I thought that was great," Lemmy later told VH1.com. "They all had long black wigs on and penciled-in mustaches, and a tattoo drawn on one arm, with a black marker. Besides, they got their tattoos on the wrong arm, too, every one of them."

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told the band's fan magazine So What! about the gig: "After some initial hesitation, I also donned the wig and shades (try playing MOTÖRHEAD songs when you have a three-foot black wig on and can’t see shit!!), and as we walked towards the Whisky stage (for the first time since supporting SAXON in 1982!!), the fucking look on people's faces… classic. I started 'Overkill', immediately swallowed half the wig, but… who gives a fuck?! And off we [went]!"

METALLICA and MOTÖRHEAD have long enjoyed a mutual admiration of one another's work.

"In 1981, I ended up running some of the MOTÖRHEAD appreciation stuff and also following them around on tour," Ulrich explained in an interview. "A few years later, when they were in L.A., I went down to the hotel room to see Lemmy. I started drinking and ended up passed out in his room having thrown up over myself. He took a picture of that and put it on one of MOTÖRHEAD's records."

MOTÖRHEAD picked up its first Grammy in 2005 in the "Best Metal Performance" category for the band's cover of METALLICA's "Whiplash", which was featured on "Metallic Attack: Metallica - The Ultimate Tribute" album.

O Motörhead lançará ainda nesse semestre, uma linha completa de fones de ouvido. O nome da linha não poderia ser mais adequado: Motörheadphones.

O foco será no público de Metal/Rock, um segmento que possui os ouvintes mais críticos e são os que mais consomem música.

O preço ficará entre 40 e 50 libras (em torno de 100 a 125 reais) para os fones menores e entre 70 e 130 libras (em torno de 175 a 325 reais) para os fones maiores. A maioria dos modelos virá pronta para ser utilizada com smartphone. Os produtos estarão disponíveis na Europa a partir do final de Setembro.

MOTÖRHEAD founder, bassist and principal songwriter Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister has confirmed to Kevin and Ian from the "Metal Shop" show, which airs on the 99.9 KISW radio station in Seattle, Washington, that MOTÖRHEAD will take part in this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival (see video below).

The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival will make a 26-date trek across the U.S. beginning on June 30 at the San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California. The headlining slot on the main stage will be occupied by Iowa legends SLIPKNOT. Next up will be legendary thrash metal kings SLAYER and MOTÖRHEAD will be playing in the third slot. The main stage will also spotlight a ferocious mix of today's best artists in a rotation, including THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, AS I LAY DYING and ASKING ALEXANDRIA.

In 2012 the tour has upgraded the production on the festival stage and this year the Jägermeister Stage will feature a special headline set by metal masters ANTHRAX supported by a rotation of THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, AS I LAY DYING and ASKING ALEXANDRIA, along with WHITECHAPEL, HIGH ON FIRE and the Jägermeister opener. SEFOTEU\\ Motorhead: cancelada América do Sul por saúde de Lemmy

Em nota oficial, foi anunciado que a banda Motörhead cancelou sua participação no Metal Fest que acontece no Chile entre os dias 28 e 29 de abril.

O motivo é devido a uma recomendação médica em que o frontman Lemmy Kilmister terá que se afastar temporariamente dos palcos.

Mais informações a respeito do estado de saúde de Lemmy ainda não foram divulgadas.

José Norberto Flesch, do jornal Destak, de São Paulo, listou o Motorhead entre as bandas que virão ao Metal Open Air, em matéria sobre os shows de Metal de 2012 no Brasil. O repórter e o jornal costumam ser ótima fonte de informação sobre shows vindouros no país.

Recentemente o vocalista Rob Halford andou falando na imprensa sobre a possibilidade de uma turnê de uma espécie de Big 4 britânico, que reuniria Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Motörhead e Iron Maiden. De acordo com o site BraveWords.com, fontes próximas ao Priest dão conta que essa excursão pode mesmo acontecer. Porém, sem a presença da Donzela de Ferro.

Hard rock fans who love wine, but hate the image can now pick up a bottle of ruby that's been approved by the crown prince of rock and metal himself, Lemmy Kilmister — Motörhead Shiraz.

The Australian Shiraz, which is available in the U.K. from Great Wine Online, has been carefully selected by the hard rock legends and has been described as a wine with a fruity aroma, flavors of vanilla, blackberries, plums, eucalyptus and liquorice, but with soft rounded tannins. Or, as Lemmy Kilmister, lead singer, bass player and founder of the band, puts it: "My advice is — approach it with caution. I mean, wine is deceptive, anything can happen."

MOTÖRHEAD's signature wine made its world debut in Sweden in 2010, and has been hitting Scandinavia like a Lancaster bomber, perhaps due to the band's tremendous following there. 120,000 bottles have already flown over the counters.

MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil was honored with a "Lifetime Achievement In Rock 'N' Roll" award as part of the Vegas Rocks! Magazine Awards on August 21 in the main showroom of the Las Vegas Hilton. The event was hosted by Vegas Rocks! magazine founder/CEO Sally Steele and was preceded by a grand rock 'n' roll royal red-carpet media event with appearances with some of the most famous rock artists in the music industry, including Lemmy Kilmister (MOTÖRHEAD), John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON), Sebastian Bach (SKID ROW), Wayne Static (STATIC-X), Steven Adler (ADLER'S APPETITE, GUNS N' ROSES), Gilby Clarke (GUNS N' ROSES), Matt Sorum (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES) and Chip Z'Nuff (ADLER'S APPETITE, ENUFF Z'NUFF).

Highlights of the event included a live performance of OZZY OSBOURNE's "Crazy Train" as a tribute to Randy Rhoads, featuring John 5, Carmine Appice, Sebastian Bach, Dario Lorina and Sean McNabb. Then Bach and Steve Stevens took to the stage to perform LED ZEPPELIN's "Whole Lotta Love" with an unexpected guest appearance by Vince Neil.

Other highlights for the evening included adult film legend Ron Jeremy and Frankie Moreno presenting an award, with Ron picking Frankie up and putting him over his shoulder and carrying him off the stage. There was also a tribute to rock guitar legend Jimi Hendrix with an all-star lineup which included most of the stars attending the show for the grand finale of "Fire".

Commented Sally Steele: "I was really happy that so many of my favorite artists came out to celebrate my publication's seven-year anniversary to make it an amazing rock-royalty-filled event. It was truly a historic night in rock and roll for Las Vegas! One thing I can say is that it might be hard to top this show next year — but we will try!"

O guitarrista Michael "Würzel" Burston morreu hoje (sábado, 9 de julho), aos 61 anos.

A notícia foi dada inicialmente em um post no Facebook de Tim Butcher, técnico de baixo e braço direito de Lemmy Kilmister. Mais tarde foi confirmada oficialmente pela banda. Ainda não há detalhes sobre a causa da morte.

Burston participou do MOTÖRHEAD de 1984 a 1995 e gravou nos seguintes álbuns.

Na véspera da apresentação da banda inglesa Motörhead em Buenos Aires (12/04 - Buenos Aires - Luna Park), o vocalista/baixista Lemmy Kilmister fez uma aparição surpresa no show do guitarrista norte-americano Slash, que se apresentou ontem na mesma cidade.
