Fan-filmed video footage of STONE SOUR performing a cover version of the JUDAS PRIEST classic "Heading Out To The Highway" on January 17 in Baltimore, Maryland can be seen below.

As previously reported, STONE SOUR guitarist Jim Root has chosen to sit out the band's current North American tour so that he can concentrate on writing music for the next SLIPKNOT album. The Pulse Of Radio spoke with Root and asked him to explain his decision in a little more depth. "You know, unfortunately I'm only one person," he said. "I can't really be in two places at one time and the amount of focus that I need to put into SLIPKNOT makes it really difficult for me to be on tour with STONE SOUR. It's crushing and it's heartbreaking and I really don't like the idea of not being out there, but I don't really see any other way to really do it without — I mean, this is like the best way that we could come up with for a compromise."

Root said that it's possible that SLIPKNOT could enter a studio as early as January, although the group has yet to make any official announcements regarding its next record.

Root is being replaced for the month-long tour, which began on January 14 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, by Christian Martucci. POP EVIL and STOLEN BABIES are also on the bill.

The trek will mark the end of the touring cycle for STONE SOUR and the band's two-album set, "House Of Gold And Bones".

SLIPKNOT's long-awaited fifth album will be its first since 2008's "All Hope Is Gone" and first since the 2010 death of bassist Paul Gray and last month's dismissal of drummer Joey Jordison.

JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford joined METALLICA on stage last night (Thursday, May 2) at the fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods award show presented by Epiphone at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California to perform the PRIEST classic "Rapid Fire". Video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

METALLICA played a four-song set at Revolver Golden Gods: "Disposable Heroes", "For Whom the Bell Tolls", "Rapid Fire" and "Seek And Destroy".

Halford previously performed "Rapid Fire" with METALLICA at one of the band's four intimate shows in December 2011 at the Fillmore in San Francisco as part of the week-long celebration of METALLICA's 30th anniversary as a band for fan club members only.

This Friday (May 3) has been declared Metallica Night at AT&T Park in San Francisco, home of baseball's San Francisco Giants. According to a press release issued by the team, members of METALLICA will participate in pre-game festivities which will include throwing out the ceremonial first pitch and guitarists James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett performing the National Anthem. The custom Giants-themed guitars that will be played by the pair will be signed immediately following the National Anthem and auctioned off at the Giants Community Clubhouse, with proceeds being shared by the Giants Community Fund and the Bill Graham Memorial Foundation.

METALLICA is also gearing up to headline its second annual Orion Music + More festival, scheduled for June 8-9 in Detroit.

Em entrevista a Mike Daniel, do The Dallas Morning News, em agosto de 2008, o vocalista Rob Halford deu uma declaração no mínimo polêmica ao justificar por qual motivo acredita ser o único capaz de assumir o posto de vocalista do JUDAS PRIEST:

"Para ser brutalmente honesto, 'Jugulator' e 'Demolition' [os dois discos que o grupo lançou tendo Tim 'Ripper' Owens como frontman] foram afetados pela minha ausência da banda, assim como aconteceu quando Bruce Dickinson esteve fora do IRON MAIDEN ou como ficou o VAN HALEN com a saída de David Lee Roth. Quando perguntado sobre o fato do novo álbum, "Nostradamus", não soar como nada que tenha sido feito anteriormente pelo Judas, Rob respondeu que a banda nunca se repete: "Se você quer o 'British Steel' ouça-o; se você quer o 'Painkiller' ouça-o. Não tentamos fazer a mesma coisa repetidas vezes, com títulos e letras diferentes. Qual o sentido? Sempre achei que se fosse o caso de nos comparar com alguém, que seja com o QUEEN... Honda has chosen JUDAS PRIEST's classic 1982 track "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" for its new campaign dubbed the "Honda Summer Clearance Event." You can check out the 30-second commercial below.

Back in 2010, Honda used another PRIEST song, "The Hellion", in a commercial for its redesigned 2011 Odyssey minivan. The 30-second spot featured a young, ex-rocker dad and an iconic Marshall amp.

Both "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" and "The Hellion" come off PRIEST's classic eighth studio album, "Screaming For Vengeance", which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Released on July 17, 1982 — with a remastered CD version released in May of 2001 — it remains the top selling release of JUDAS PRIEST's career.

Former PRIEST guitarist Kenneth "K.K." Downing's official web site, Steel Mill, earlier this week posted a new blog from K.K. on the recording, impact and legacy of "Screaming For Vengeance". Check it out at this location.

On how "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" came together, Downing said, "As it happened, I seem to remember that we were quite happy with the album but decided late on that we could add one more song. I know we had some of the parts but we set about completing 'Another Thing Comin'' during the mixing sessions at Bee Jay studios. It came together quite quickly, and I seem to remember that we all had a good feeling about it as it did sound like a good driving song and possibly a good radio track."

Pop superstar Lady Gaga has announced that longtime collaborator and friend Lady Starlight will join her on the Born This Way Ball this year.

Opening the Ball, Starlight will DJ and perform to her favorite rock and metal tunes — awakening new people to her music taste and downright ballsy attitude.

Since the Monster Ball in 2010, Lady Starlight has been busy supporting bands (including JUDAS PRIEST, THIN LIZZY, RIVAL SONS, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY); as well as playing rock clubs, awards and festivals with her rock DJing and performance art. She is currently on tour with JUDAS PRIEST in Eastern Europe, before she joins Lady Gaga on tour later this year.

Entrevista\\ Judas Priest: "certas razões nunca virão à tona", diz K.K.

Em entrevista à radio Valley FM, K.K. Downing comentou sobre os motivos que o fizeram não participar da turnê de despedida do Judas Priest. Segundo o guitarrista, não houve uma circunstância oficial, mas vários problemas relacionados ao modo como o trabalho era conduzido. “É como em qualquer outra convivência. Quem acha que é difícil com uma mulher, nem imagina como é tentar chegar a um acordo com outros quatro caras (risos). Não estava feliz com tudo que acontecia e senti que era melhor sair”.

Perguntando se estava feliz com a decisão que tomou, Ken declarou que gostaria que as coisas tivessem sido diferentes. “Tenho uma paixão muito grande pela banda, criamos muito nesses quarenta anos. Foi difícil assimilar. Mas pensei que se as coisas iriam tomar o rumo que tomaram, era melhor eu ficar de fora. Amo os fãs e me tornei amigo de vários. Espero que todos tenham compreendido, mesmo com a coisa toda não tendo sido muito bem explicada. E certas razões nunca virão à tona, na verdade”.

RUMOURS\\ Big 4 britânico: se rolar, Iron Maiden pode ficar de fora

Recentemente o vocalista Rob Halford andou falando na imprensa sobre a possibilidade de uma turnê de uma espécie de Big 4 britânico, que reuniria Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Motörhead e Iron Maiden. De acordo com o site BraveWords.com, fontes próximas ao Priest dão conta que essa excursão pode mesmo acontecer. Porém, sem a presença da Donzela de Ferro.

Os outros três grupos fariam uma série de datas pela América do Norte entre os meses de junho e julho. Por hora, são apenas rumores, mas caso se confirme, pode ser uma evidência que as rusgas da briga entre Bruce Dickinson e Sharon Osbourne ainda não se apagaram e dificilmente sairão.

JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford fell off the motorcycle he famously rides onto the stage at the end of each show during last night's (Thursday, September 15) concert at Ginásio Nilson Nelson in Brasilia, Brazil. Fan-filmed video footage of the incident can be seen below.

On the last show of the tour supporting PRIEST's 1990 "Painkiller" album, Halford was knocked off the motorcycle he by a misplaced prop. He broke his nose and was rendered unconscious, causing him to miss the last song of what would be his final show with the band for more than a decade.

In an interview with Hellbound, Halford stated about his nightly ritual of cruising out on stage on a motorcycle, "The whole association with motorcycles and JUDAS PRIEST goes back to 'Hell Bent for Leather' — whenever that song was written... When we were touring in England, we thought that it would be cool if we could bring the bike on stage when we did the song, as it seemed like the right thing to do. So when we would go to a city we would ask one of our crew to see if there were any motorcycle guys or girls that had parked their bikes and could we use their bikes and give them a couple of T-shirts, or buy them a drink and that type of thing.

"When we got to America, we basically asked our management company to contact Harley-Davidson and told them what we wanted to do. They were really excited about the association of their bikes with this heavy metal band from the UK. They gave us the 1981 low-rider for a dollar. Prior to that, they would give us Harley's and then we would give them back at the end of the tour. The official one that you see now, which has been customized — the frame, the wheels, the engine all the internal stuff are the original components. So we have had that bike since then."

Regarding the connection between motorcycles and rock and roll, Halford said, "In my mind, in talking about the United States, it’s all about Harley-Davidson. There has just been this ongoing relationship in rock and roll with Harley for as long as I can remember. The roots of motorcycles and rock and roll culture goes back all the way to Marlon Brando in that movie 'On The Waterfront' I think that it is still relevant in today's rock world. I've seen guys like AVENGED SEVENFOLD in other metal bands that are using bikes on stage. The MÖTLEY CRÜE boys are using bikes in their videos. We are using bikes in our videos but Harley-Davidson is the most important brand for us. They are American and the represent America, even though for awhile Harleys were made in Japan, which was a bit unusual but eventually they moved back to the States where they belonged.

Judas Priest & Whitesnake no Brasil \\ Rob Halford diz que Judas Priest lançará novo álbum

Apesar de estar em plena turnê mundial de despedida, Rob Halford afirmou que o Judas Priest não está “indo embora” e revelou que a banda deve gravar um novo álbum. Segundo o site Billboard, ele e o guitarrista Glenn Tipton “começaram a compor novas músicas no começo do ano, antes de irem para a estrada”.

“Temos mais ou menos 12 ou 14 faixas completamente traçadas, quatro delas foram gravadas e mixadas e estão prontas...então a boa notícia é que haverá um novo disco do Priest ano que vem”, revelaram.

Isto significa que a “Epitaph World Tour” não será a última do Judas Priest e Halford diz que a banda “está aproveitando todas as oportunidades para informar aos fãs que não é o fim da banda”.

O vocalista revela também que um dos seus projetos poderá ser um show baseado no conceito do álbum “Nostradamus”, de 2008.

Pelo andar da carruagem, essa é mesmo a turnê de despedida do JUDAS PRIEST – ainda que a banda afirme que irá continuar produzindo, apenas reservando-se a não fazer extensas turnês no futuro.

E o vocalista Rob Halford estaria no olho do furacão.

Nos últimos dias, o empresário de Halford «ele tem um empresário à parte da banda», John Baxter, tem deletado toda e qualquer informação sobre o Judas Priest contida no website de Halford, e rumores – e não podemos deixar de frisar bem isso, RUMORES – dão conta de um print screen rodando pela internet contendo uma mensagem escrita por Baxter que teria sido deletada, afirmando que “Halford vai unir-se a KK «Downing» e assistir ao ‘Show de Glenn «Tipton» & Jayne’ «esposa e empresária de Glenn» daqui pra frente”

Tal arquivo com o print screen seria parte do conteúdo apagado por Baxter do site, onde se pode ler hoje...
