Premiere\\ Former Ozzy Osbourne Bassist Releases Video For His Rendition Of "Shot In The Dark"

Former Ozzy Osbourne bassist Phil Soussan has released a music video for his rendition of "Shot In The Dark", a song he co-wrote for Osbourne's 1986 album 'The Ultimate Sin'. The song reached #68 on the Billboard Hot 100 upon its release, and in July of last year Soussan released his own version, handling all vocals and instruments with the guitar solo being provided by Luis Maldonado.

Phil Soussan released his second solo album, entitled 'No Protection', on June 7th, 2011 through Steve Vai's Favored Nations label as a follow-up to 'Vibrate', his first critically acclaimed album.

Phil has played with the likes of rock legends such as Ozzy Osbourne, Vince Neil, Billy Idol, Steve Lukather, Richie Kotzen, Beggars & Thieves, and with an early version of The Firm, formed by legendary Led Zeppelin guitar player Jimmy Page.

Regarding the album Soussan stated, "'No Protection' is the culmination of three years' work, recording, producing and mixing a collection of 13 songs that were all written over a period of about a year. The songs are a reflection of the idea that in life, time waits for no one. What is unique about this album is that I felt the inspiration to record an album on which I play virtually all of the instruments and perform all of the vocals. I had always wanted to play all the instruments on a record, ever since I saw McCartney do just that; it was a very tough and tricky thing to do but I have become a better musician for it! I am very proud of this CD."

Outside of the immediate music scene, Phil wanted to get more involved in his industry's representation and put himself up for election to the Grammys as a Board Member. Phil became Chairman of the Advocacy committee, traveling frequently to Capitol Hill to lobby Congress on many issues, and in 2011 he was elected to the prestigious position of Vice President of the Grammys, a position that he still holds.
