Em nota publicada no facebook oficial do festival Metal Open Air, o empresário Felipe Negri, um dos responsáveis pela realização do mega-festival em São Luís, confirmou que foi feita uma proposta para ter o Slayer no cast, mas apesar da proposta ter sido muito alta (maior do que eles normalmente tem, em qualquer parte do globo), ela foi recusada e agora mesmo que o Slayer volte atrás, será difícil sua participação do M:O:A, visto que o orçamento foi gasto em outras atrações.
