A reunião que o Pink Floyd fez em 2005 no festival Live 8 encheu os fãs da banda britânica de esperança. Depois de 24 anos, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason e Rick Wright dividiram novamente o palco. No entanto, em entrevista à BBC, o baixista afirmou que não crê que um novo show seja possível.
Waters afirmou que a banda foi convidada para tocar novamente desde então, mas Gilmour recusou. Neste meio tempo, em 2008, o grupo também perdeu Rick Wright, vítima de um câncer. O baixista inglês ainda disse que "não fica triste" com o desfecho.
