Em entrevista concedida ao ESPN.com, o vocalista Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour) falou sobre o que poderia ter colaborado à banda Velvet Revolver, caso tivesse se tornado o frontman do grupo.
“Teria tentando estabelecer uma relação entre o que possuíam com Axl Rose e o que fizeram com Scott Weiland. Apenas gostaria de algo mais divertido, pois posso ter atitude e sorrir. Penso que eles deviam ter relaxado mais, sem se preocupar muito com o que o cantor faria. Acredito em dar aos fãs o que eles desejam. Eles são a razão pela qual você está onde está e merecem tudo que podemos dar”.
