DIO Eterno\\ ALICE IN CHAINS Pays Tribute To RONNIE JAMES DIO At Glens Falls Concert

ALICE IN CHAINS paid tribute to legendary singer Ronnie James Dio at its concert in Glens Falls, New York Wednesday night (May 19). Bassist Mike Inez wore a vintage t-shirt from DIO's 1985 "Sacred Heart" tour (see photo below) and guitarist Jerry Cantrell dedicated the song "Nutshell" to both Dio and late ALICE IN CHAINS singer Layne Staley. At the end of the show, the RAINBOW classic "Man On The Silver Mountain" was played over the P.A. as the lights came up and the crowd left the arena.

Fan-filmed video footage of the "Nutshell" dedication from last night's concert can be viewed below.

A public memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 30 for Dio, who passed away last Sunday (May 16) from stomach cancer at the age of 67. The service will take place at the Hall Of Liberty at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, in Los Angeles, beginning at 2:00 p.m. PT. Described as "a celebration of the life and music of Ronnie James Dio," the event is open to the public.

In other news, Dio's wife and manager Wendy has requested that in lieu of sending flowers, people can make a donation to the Ronnie James Dio "Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund," care of the Niji Entertainment Group, 12400 Ventura Blvd. #624, Studio City, CA 91604, USA.
