KORN's video for the band's brand new single, "Oildale (Leave Me Alone)", premiered earlier today exclusively on MTV2 and is now available for viewing below. (Note: Video stream may not be available to some non-U.S. residents.) This marks the worldwide unveiling of the clip and coincides with the band's weeklong MTV Takeover, where the band hosted both "Headbangers Ball" and "Rock the Deuce".
KORN's new album, "Korn III – Remember Who You Are", is due out July 13. It is the band's first release for Roadrunner Records and is their ninth studio release. The CD was produced by Ross Robinson, who manned the boards for the band's first two albums, "Korn" and "Life is Peachy".
As its title suggests, "Korn III – Remember Who You Are" finds the band sticking to its roots, and the song and video are vintage KORN; the band once again taps into the visceral emotion that defined their earliest records, all the while remaining true to their well-honed experience and growth as a band over the past decade-plus.
"We thought it was fitting to have the first single and video from 'Korn III – Remember Who You Are' be 'Oildale (Leave Me Alone)', since Oildale is near where we grew up as kids," vocalist Jonathan Davis said about the song and its accompanying video. "It's a poverty-stricken area surrounded by endless, rich oil fields. The money doesn't really help the local people and it's tough for local kids to get out of there. I feel blessed that our music busted us out."
2010 is shaping up to be another prolific and productive year for KORN, as the band is currently headlining the spring edition of the Jägermeister Tour, "Korn's Ballroom Blitz", as they have named it. They are playing to capacity crowds across the U.S. and debuting new material along the way. The band heads right back out on the road this summer, as they co-headline the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival through July and August.
