O álbum "Death Magnetic", último lançamento do Metallica, foi certificado nos EUA Disco de Platina Duplo no dia 28 de junho pela Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA), organização que cuida da aferição e certificação de vendas de discos. Isso significa que as vendas alcançaram o total de 2 milhões de cópias.
Após o lançamento do disco, que para muitos significou a volta do quarteto Americano à "velha forma", a banda entrou em extensa turnê, que inclusive passou pelo Brasil no início deste ano. A tour acaba em meados do segundo semestre com apresentações na Austrália e na Nova Zelândia.
